Diani, where we left our heart

After exploring the entire coastline, we setted up our home in the south coast of Kenya, Diani. A buzzing coastal town in southern Kenya, famous for its turquoise waters and playful conditions for all levels throughout the two seasons. Mile-long beaches framed with swaying palm trees are the ultimate place to pursue your kitesurfing dream.

Kitesurfing in Diani is truly a privilege for everyone who enjoys world class kite surfing conditions with a stunning nature, both in the ocean and on land. A wide open beach
and a shallow flat ocean is waiting for you during low tide. For a few hours of the day the crystal clear water allows you to see every shade of blue and turquoise.
Privileged to be located right next to a huge sandbank, we enjoy a nearly perfect freestyle, flat water spot.

Due to the big tidal range the spot is changing its nature every time the tide comes up.
At full high tide the beach almost disappears and the shore break becomes a massive play ground. Sometimes the waves get up to
1,5 meters on the beach and serve as perfect kickers to take off, or on the other get into wave riding with the safety of the beach.

The reef is only 900m offshore and goes parallel with the beach the whole 15 kilometers.
You can always catch decent waves out there, especially in the really windy days wave riders can spend all day at the reef.
However in the months from May to August the waves can get as big as 3 meters high.

LOCATION

The Diani Kite Club is located at Galu, the southern part of Diani Beach. Galu is the kitesurfing hot spot in Kenya. The beach here is the widest and sandy all the way, therefor its the best place to hit the water.

You will find us on the premises of Simba & Oryxs cottage, on the south end of Diani Beach
We’re located only five minutes walk away from the popular Neptune hotels in the south and a 15 min walk to the Baobab Hotel.

This stretch of the beach is called Galu Beach and is a true play ground for kitesurfers. The white powdery sand is unique for the whole coast.
At low tide the spot turn into a flat water, freestyle paradise. Only a stone through away from our school you can find a sandbank.
For a few hours each day, the sandbank turn into a world class flat water spot. Here is where the magic happens.
High tide on the other hand gives us the chance to play around in the waves close to the beach.
Though the tide differences can be big at times, on the 6km Galu Beach stretch you will always be able to have a session if you want.
