Beginner FAQ’s

Learning how to kitesurf can be complex and requires caution and knowledge, as kites have the potential to cause serious injuries if not handled properly. However, one does not need any specific skills or knowledge to start. While being physically fit is helpful, the most important aspect is understanding the physics of flying a kite and anticipating its movements. Before taking a kiteboarding course, it is essential to be comfortable in the water and have basic swimming skills.

Gaining the essential skills and confidence to become a proficient kitesurfer may require anywhere from 3 to 7 days, contingent upon various personal factors and environmental variables. Diani Beach in Kenya boasts the stunning turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, which are consistently swept by reliable trade winds. With two wind seasons, Diani Beach is the perfect location for kitesurfing, offering approximately six months of optimal conditions each year. January and February are the most sought-after months for beginners to learn, while June through August is particularly popular among our guests from Nairobi and other nearby metropolitan areas.

Our wide sandy beach and spacious protected lagoon make it an ideal location for both novice and expert kiteboarders, all year round. For an optimal kiteboarding experience, make sure to visit during the windy periods of the year, December till March and June till September.
